Tornado struck Oklahoma City

A storm with a massive tornado struck an area outside of ''Oklahoma City'' on Monday afternoon. The tornado was estimated to be at least 2 miles wide at one point as it crossed to Moore, in the South of the metropolitan area of Oklahoma City, a funnel cloud stretching  from the sky to the ground, kicking up debris. The National Weather Service said, '' The preliminary rating of the Moore tornado is at least EF-4 (166 to 200 mph)''.

As a result of the storm at least 91 people  including 20 children at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore  were killed. Hospitals in metropolitan Oklahoma City are treating a number of people injured. Twelve adults and eight children are being treated at the Oklahoma University Medical Center and The Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, OU Medical Center.  Officials at the two hospitals that they treat patients, nearly 145, including more than 70 children,  after a huge cyclone in a suburb of Oklahoma City.

Highway 35 is closed in Moore, Oklahoma, as a result of debris from the tornado that struck the area on Monday afternoon, Hackett Cole, spokesman for the Ministry of transport Oklahoma. Hackett said crews went to the highway between North and South to start the cleaning process.

Aundershirave McLean County, said Bill erupted Monday afternoon there was significant damage, near Newcastle, Oklahoma. The chip indicates that there are many structures with damage North of Newcastle, in the town of Tuttle. Most parallel to Highway 37 damage, he said.

 President Barack Obama told Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin the federal government "stands ready to provide all available assistance" as part of the response to a series of deadly storms  that have struck the Oklahoma City area, including Monday's devastating tornado.

A White House statement said the Federal Emergency Management Agency has deployed a team to assist state operations, and additional personnel are ready to be dispatched as necessary. Obama told Fallin that "the people of Oklahoma" are in the first family's "thoughts and prayers," the statement said.
